I love mixing! Mixing is where it all comes together, all your creative efforts are put work to do one thing: communicate your music. I got the technical tools and knowhow to deliver, but mostly its my passion and my commitment to provide you with the best possible mix! Did i say i love mixing?
The Mixing Process
I prefer to start the mixing session unattended. nothing personal, i just work better that way... After talking to you, reading your notes and listening to your rough mix a couple of times, i have a sense of what you expect from the mix. I work up to a point that I feel its necessary to get your input, that's usually pretty close to a finished mix. You can either attend a session or I 'll email you an mp3 for review, whatever you are comfortable with.
My mixing philosophy
Philosophy? We're talking mixing here. Thats about faders, blinking lights, buttons and all of that good stuff…
Yes it is, partly, but theres more to it. Hear me out, you'll get it.
Mixing is communication. Communicating the story within the song.
The music tells you what it needs, the mix is all included in the audio tracks. All you have to do is to hear it. Yes you can eq, compress, put a filter so and so, delay, flip it sideways, rub it and put that cool box in the signal path because you can, but do you have to? Sometimes yes, it'll make things sound better. Sometimes they don't need to sound better, in fact what they need is to sound crappy. Yes crappy from an audio quality perspective, It may be just what the mix needs.
It's all about musical context and communication. Whats the focus of the song, what is the melody trying to tell me? Whats important, whats adding to the message of the song and whats distracting from it. See it like this: if everything sounds big, does it still sound big? Something can only be big if theres something small next to it to compare it to.
For me mixing is all about balancing these ingredients. Finding the contrast, match big and small, bright and subdued..It's not technical at all. Yes the tools are, but the process is gut feeling, emotion and communication.

The Room and the Tools
My mixing room is set up comfortably with a carefully chosen selection of hardware and software.
I'm always improving my tools and techniques to take advantage of what both analog and digital technology have to offer.
See the Studio page for more detailed info on the rooms. For more on equipment you can take a look here. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask, i love to talk studio tech!
Mastering?
I don't do mastering, i mix. Mastering is more than just "Making it Loud". Mastering should be done by a skilled professional that has the right tools for the job.
I can recommend you a mastering engineer if you don't know a good one. I know a couple that do great work for reasonable prices.
To make things even easier for you i can deal with the whole mastering process for you. The end product usually benefits from communication between Mix and Master Engineer.
